Duties Safely operate commercial trucks, including manual transmission tractor-trailers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries. Load and unload freight with precision, adhering to safety protocols and proper manual handling techniques. Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes, ensuring punctual deliveries across diverse locations. Transport refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), or other specialized cargo such as flatbed or tanker loads while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and hazardous materials regulations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before departure. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any incidents encountered during transit. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving for freight or hazardous materials. Strong knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, cargo handling, and logistics cargo management. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient route driving. Ability to operate refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials regulations. Skilled in manual handling techniques for loading/unloading freight safely. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission trucks is preferred. Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols while managing dangerous goods or sensitive cargo such as hazardous materials or fragile freight.
