Operates truck on pre-determined route in a safe manner obeying traffic signs and using good judgement and common sense. Inspect trailers pre-trip to confirm they are empty Inspect trailers pre-trip for load security and safety Operates truck and associated equipment in an efficient and expense conscious manner. Hooks and unhooks truck/trailers as required; ensures that all materials are properly secured for transit. Completes pre-and post-trip vehicle inspection; insures that required preventative maintenance is completed. Notifies dispatchers and/or supervisors of delays, unsafe sites, accidents, breakdowns, or other issues. Maintains logs of pickup times and daily mileage. Follows all DOT requirements as well as New River Tire Recycling policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to operate a truck with a manual transmission. Ability to follow pre-determined schedule for all pickup and disposal routes. Ability to read and write to understand instructions and maintain written records. Ability to safely operate commercial 18 wheel truck and trailer equipment. Thorough understanding of safe highway practices and motor vehicle regulations.
Education and Experience:
Valid Class A CDL Driver's License Current Passed DOT drug test 4+ years previous driving experience in a Class A vehicle Ability to work and drive in a variety of weather conditions. Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (physical card) in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMDSR)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
