Job Overview Tamp Grading & Utilities is looking for a dependable, experienced CDL Dump Truck Driver / Construction Laborer to join our commercial sitework crews. This is not a driving-only position . Approximately 50% of your time will be operating a dump truck and 50% will be performing construction labor on commercial grading and utility projects. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working around heavy equipment, digging and installing utilities, loading/unloading materials, and performing general sitework labor when not driving. Primary Responsibilities Dump Truck - Approximately 50% Safely operate company dump trucks. Haul dirt, stone, pipe, asphalt, and other construction materials. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Properly secure loads and comply with DOT requirements. Maintain accurate truck tickets and load documentation. Communicate with foremen, operators, and dispatch regarding loads and jobsite needs. Keep truck clean and report mechanical issues promptly. Follow all company and jobsite safety requirements. Construction Labor - Approximately 50% Assist with commercial sitework and utility installation. Perform general labor associated with grading, storm drainage, water, sewer, and concrete operations. Assist pipe crews with laying pipe, setting structures, bedding, backfill, and cleanup. Perform hand excavation and trench work as directed. Assist equipment operators and pipe layers. Load, unload, move, and stage materials. Assist with site cleanup and maintaining organized work areas. Work safely around excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, and other heavy equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent. Required Qualifications Valid CDL Class A or Class B license required. Clean and acceptable driving record. Valid medical card, if required. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test . Ability to pass a background check . Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to perform physical construction labor throughout the workday. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and tools. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a construction crew. Must be dependable and report to work on time. Must be willing to perform both driving and construction labor duties. Preferred Qualifications Commercial construction or sitework experience. Previous dump truck experience. Experience hauling dirt, ABC stone, asphalt, or other construction materials. Experience working around sewer, storm drainage, or water utilities. Experience with excavation and grading operations. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Familiarity with DOT regulations and daily vehicle inspections. Previous experience working on commercial construction sites. Approximately half of the position will involve construction labor. Schedule & Work Environment Full-time commercial construction position. Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays depending on project requirements. Early morning start times are common. Work is primarily outdoors and may involve heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, noise, and uneven terrain. Must be able to work safely around heavy construction equipment and active excavation operations.
