Duties Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards. Plan and execute over-the-road (OTR) driving routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and route efficiency. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling of logistics cargo including hazardous materials and dangerous goods. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, compliance with safety protocols, and proper functioning of all truck systems. Manage delivery documentation accurately, including bills of lading, manifests, and logs in compliance with hazardous materials regulations and DOT regulations. Load & unload freight efficiently at various locations while maintaining safety standards; handle special cargo such as refrigerated goods or tanker loads with precision. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during transit. Experience Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a focus on delivery driving across diverse routes including OTR routes. Hands-on experience with truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for hazardous materials or dangerous goods. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks or other specialized equipment is highly desirable. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck driving. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently; experience with manual handling equipment such as forklifts is a plus. Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling processes to ensure safe transport of freight from start to finish. Valid CDL license with necessary endorsements (e.g., Hazmat) preferred; prior experience in automobile transportation or freight delivery is advantageous.
