Job Description
Piqua Materials is seeking a reliable and safety-driven Water Truck Driver to support our quarry operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining proper dust control, keeping scales clean, and supporting the overall safety and efficiency of daily site activities Key Responsibilities Safe Equipment Operation Operate a water truck in a safe, controlled, and efficient manner throughout the quarry. Apply proper watering techniques to minimize dust without creating unsafe or muddy conditions. Maneuver equipment around active haul roads, stockpiles, and work zones with attention to surroundings and traffic. Site Maintenance & Support Keep driveway and entrance pavement washed back to eliminate mud track out onto public roads Maintain dust suppression on roads, pit areas, and high-traffic zones. Keep scales and surrounding areas clean by spraying down buildup, debris, and material. Assist with general site upkeep as needed (washdowns, cleanup, minor tasks supporting plant operations). Equipment Care Perform daily equipment inspections, recognize issues early, and report maintenance needs. Monitor water levels, nozzles, spray patterns, and truck functionality to ensure optimal operation. Follow proper fueling, cleaning, and shutdown procedures. Safety & Compliance Follow all quarry, environmental, and safety regulations at all times. Communicate effectively with plant personnel, loader operators, and haul truck drivers to coordinate safe movement. Participate in safety meetings, training, and required reporting. Skills & Qualifications Required Skills Ability to safely operate heavy equipment in active work zones. Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to safety. Basic mechanical understanding to identify equipment issues. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Dependability and consistency in daily routine tasks. Preferred Skills Experience operating trucks or mobile equipment in a quarry, construction, or industrial environment. Understanding dust suppression and site maintenance procedures. Requirements Valid driver's license Ability to work in outdoor, quarry conditions (dust, weather, uneven ground). Ability to sit, operate equipment, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift. Ability to navigate tight areas Rapid emergency egress Climb ladders Sit for extended periods of time EOE/M/F/Disabled/Veteran/DFSP
