Job Summary Join our dynamic logistics team as a Yard Jockey, where you will play a vital role in efficiently maneuvering and positioning trailers within our yard to ensure smooth operations. Your expertise in truck movement, adherence to safety regulations, and familiarity with various trailer types will keep our supply chain running seamlessly. Responsibilities Safely operate yard tractors and tractor-trailers to move refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other freight containers within the yard area. Accurately position trailers for loading, unloading, or dispatch. Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, including documentation of load & unload activities and yard inventory. Follow DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety protocols during all vehicle operations and trailer handling procedures. Assist with trailer inspections for damage or safety issues before and after movement; report any concerns immediately. Collaborate with drivers, warehouse personnel, and dispatch teams to coordinate route driving schedules and ensure timely deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Skills Proven experience operating commercial trucks, tractor-trailers, or yard jockey equipment in a logistics or transportation setting. Strong knowledge of truck loading and unloading techniques, including manual handling of freight and hazardous goods when necessary. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized freight equipment Skilled in manual transmission operation and truck driving across various routes including route driving for deliveries. Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and drivers during yard operations. Physical ability to handle manual tasks involved in trailer movement and cargo handling safely.
