Job Description
Located in Lancaster, SC, LCI-Lineberger Construction Inc. is a heavy highway and civil construction firm providing services in asphalt manufacturing and paving, reclamation and civil construction projects. We also operate a fleet of commercial vehicles to support our construction projects and are currently seeking qualified applicants for commercial driver training and commercial driver positions with LCI.
Candidate Qualifications:
Eighteen (18) years of age or older An acceptable driving record Ability to obtain a CDL permit prior to being hired Provide professional and personal references that support candidate's dependability, work ethic, and character Strong interest in becoming a commercial truck driver Ability to pass required drug screening and background requirements Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card Dependable attendance and commitment to attend all CDL classes as scheduled and complete CDL training Willingness to sign a CDL training/employment agreement Benefits Major Medical Health Insurance Dental, Vision and Life Insurance LTD and STD Company Sponsored 401k PTO and Paid Holidays Employee Training The primary function of this position is: The Truck Driver Trainee position is designed for candidates who already hold a CDL commercial learner's permit before being hired by LCI and who will complete CDL training through Carolina Construction School to prepare for a commercial driver's license. Under supervision, the trainee will learn safe commercial driving practices, company procedures, DOT compliance expectations, and the responsibilities required to progress into a Truck Driver role. Works in a manner to achieve the company goal: One Team, One Mission—Safety, Quality, Production.Description of Tasks:
The following is an abbreviated list of tasks: Attend and successfully participate in CDL training classes through Carolina Construction School as assigned by LCI. Prepare for and obtain the CDL license through required training in accordance with SCDMV and FMCSA requirements; candidates must already hold a CDL commercial learner's permit prior to being hired. Maintain a current DOT medical card and complete required DOT-related documentation as directed by Human Resources. Learn and follow safe commercial vehicle operation practices under the direction of qualified instructors, the Trucking Foreman, and/or Trucking Manager. Learn proper completion of log books, vehicle inspection reports, and other required paperwork. Comply with company policies, departmental procedures, safety rules, and all training attendance requirements. Wear applicable PPE and notify a supervisor of any potentially unsafe situation. Maintain a neat, professional appearance and follow company expectations for attendance, conduct, and communication. Assist with basic trucking-related duties as assigned when not in classroom or behind-the-wheel training. Show a willingness to learn job site goals, company-wide goals, and the expectations of LCI's trucking division. Perform any other special projects or related duties as needed.Benefits
