Responsibilities Operate heavy-duty tow trucks, including flatbeds and wreckers, to recover and transport vehicles safely and efficiently. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections prior to towing, ensuring proper load securement protocols are followed. Perform minor mechanical repairs and basic troubleshooting on vehicles to facilitate quick recovery or transport. Safely load and unload vehicles onto tow trucks using appropriate cargo securement techniques to prevent damage during transit. Utilize automotive diagnostics skills to assess vehicle issues when necessary, supporting roadside repairs or recovery efforts. Maintain accurate logs of all towing activities, vehicle conditions, and recovery details for record-keeping purposes. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, dispatchers, and team members throughout the recovery process. Experience Proven experience operating commercial trucks with manual transmissions in a towing or vehicle recovery setting. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics, minor repairs, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with cargo securement protocols, vehicle mechanics for truck drivers, and safe vehicle loading procedures onto tow trucks. Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts professionally while ensuring safety standards are upheld during stressful situations. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to flatbed or tow truck operation preferred. Experience in automotive repair or mechanic work is highly desirable.
