Job Description

CDL Class A Truck Driver - End Dump / Scrap Metal & Recycling Job Overview Godspeed Transport Services LLC is looking for a dependable and experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our growing transportation team. We specialize in the transportation of scrap metal, recyclable materials, industrial materials, equipment, and other freight throughout Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and surrounding areas. The majority of our work is performed using End Dump trailers, although drivers may occasionally operate Dry Vans, Flatbeds, or other trailers depending on customer needs. Our drivers work directly with our dispatch team to service scrap yards, recycling facilities, industrial locations, demolition-related projects, and other commercial customers. Routes can vary from local daily work to regional and occasional over-the-road trips. We are looking for someone who takes care of the equipment, communicates well with dispatch, treats our customers professionally, and understands that reliability is extremely important in the transportation business. Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers, primarily pulling End Dump trailers.
  • Pick up and deliver scrap metal, recyclable materials, industrial materials, automobile-related scrap, and general freight.
  • Complete local and regional routes throughout Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and surrounding states, with occasional longer-distance work when needed.
  • Properly position and operate End Dump trailers during loading and unloading.
  • Follow all safety procedures when dumping material, including checking the unloading area for overhead hazards, uneven ground, and other unsafe conditions.
  • Work with scrap yards, recycling facilities, loaders, scale houses, industrial facilities, and customer personnel during pickups and deliveries.
  • Follow dispatch instructions and communicate immediately regarding delays, traffic, loading issues, mechanical problems, or changes at customer locations.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork, bills of lading, weight tickets, delivery receipts, ELD records, and other required documentation.
  • Follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours-of-Service requirements.
  • Secure loads when required and verify that trailers and equipment are safe before entering public roadways.
  • Maintain the truck and trailer in clean and professional condition.
  • Treat customers, yard employees, loaders, dispatchers, and other drivers professionally and respectfully.
  • Be flexible with schedules and assignments as daily transportation needs can change. Qualifications & Skills
  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Commercial tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
  • End Dump experience is strongly preferred.
  • Scrap metal, recycling, construction, demolition, or industrial hauling experience is a plus.
  • Ability to safely operate both automatic and manual-transmission commercial vehicles when applicable.
  • Good understanding of
DOT/FMCSA
safety regulations.
  • Ability to properly conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Comfortable navigating scrap yards, recycling facilities, industrial sites, and tight customer locations.
  • Ability to use
GPS, ELD
systems, fuel applications, and smartphones for communication with dispatch.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow dispatch instructions.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work early mornings when routes require it.
  • Must take pride in maintaining company equipment and immediately reporting mechanical problems or damage.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude when dealing with customers and facility personnel. Compensation

    Monday-Friday, Saturday if available.

      Routes and start times may vary based on customer needs, facility hours, traffic, weather, and dispatch requirements.
