Job Description

Local CDL-A Driver (Semi & Straight Truck) Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL-A Driver to join our team. This role involves operating both semi and straight trucks for local deliveries. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable interacting with customers while representing the company in a professional manner. This position typically works Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with overtime and schedule flexibility required, including occasional driving at nights. Key Responsibilities Operate both semi-trucks (50-75% of the time) and straight trucks for local deliveries Transition from primarily semi-truck driving into ownership of a dedicated straight truck route Safely operate equipment in compliance with all DOT regulations and company policies Perform pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections Load and unload freight using a hand truck and/or pallet jack as needed Accurately complete delivery documentation, logs, and electronic records Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding schedules, delays, and issues Maintain cleanliness and perform basic upkeep of assigned vehicles Follow all federal, state, and local transportation laws Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Requirements Valid CDL Class A license Clean driving record and ability to meet all DOT requirements Experience operating both semi-trucks and straight trucks Ability to safely use material handling equipment (hand truck, pallet jack) Strong time management and customer service skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Basic computer and electronic logging skills Physical & Functional Abilities Ability to safely operate vehicles in varying weather and road conditions Frequently required to sit and climb in and out of vehicles Regular use of hands and arms for handling, reaching, and operating equipment Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, and kneeling Ability to lift to 25 lbs. without assistance Visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment
Safety-Sensitive Position:
This role is classified as safety-sensitive. A lapse in attention or impairment could pose a direct risk to the safety of the employee or others. Work Environment Regular exposure to warehouse and transportation environments Work performed in varying weather conditions Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including: Safety glasses Steel-toe footwear High-visibility safety vest Frequent work around moving equipment such as forklifts Education & Experience Valid CDL Class A license and current medical certification required High School Diploma or GED preferred Communication Skills Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Capable of understanding instructions, completing documentation, and communicating with customers and team members Comfortable using both verbal and written communication, including basic digital tools (e.g., smart phones, logs, spreadsheets)
