Job Description
While this position is scheduled to close on 09/17/2026, it may close earlier if a sufficient number of qualified applications is received. Under general supervision, provides support in a variety of capacities to all areas of the police department; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned. The duties listed below represent the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is related or a logical assignment to this class. Receive, document, and process offense reports, incident reports, and related records from walk-in complainants and over the telephone. Take reports both in person and over the phone and accurately enter information into appropriate records management and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems. Perform clerical and administrative tasks, including typing, filing, photocopying, and records maintenance. Assist with the preparation and processing of arrest-related documentation, including compiling reports and supporting materials for court submission. Receive, sort, and distribute departmental mail and packages. Answer incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner; provide information, route calls appropriately, and coordinate with other agencies or city departments as needed. Provide front-desk and public counter assistance while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and a service-oriented approach. May drive department vehicles, including patrol vehicles, vans, and trucks, in accordance with department policy. May assist with the transport of police vehicles for routine maintenance and repairs. Support the deployment, operation, and retrieval of departmental equipment, including speed trailers, radar data collectors, and surveillance camera trailers. May assist with inventory control, minor equipment maintenance, and the issuance of departmental supplies and equipment. Provides administrative and operational support to the Property and Evidence Custodian, including assistance with periodic inventory audits and the controlled intake and release of property, in accordance with departmental policy and chain-of-custody requirements. Provide supplemental support at special events, incidents, or designated areas, including assistance with crowd control as directed. May assist with educational programs, outreach initiatives, and presentations. Perform fingerprinting services for city residents and assist with the processing of solicitor permits in accordance with applicable regulations and city ordinance. Performs other duties as assigned
