CNC Machine Operator - Entry Level (Will Train) Wisconsin Ordnance Works | Oshkosh, WI | Full-time $20.00-$23.00/hour, plus $1.50/hour second-shift premium About the role We machine precision components for U.S. defense programs. This is a training position — you do not need machining experience. You need to be mechanically minded, show up consistently, and want to learn a trade that pays for the rest of your career. We teach the rest. What you'll do Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently under supervision, progressing toward independent setup Load and unload parts, material, and tooling per work instructions Read blueprints, job travelers, and inspection sheets (training provided) Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and hard gauging Monitor machine operation and escalate tooling, equipment, or quality issues to your lead Deburr, clean, and handle finished parts Maintain a clean, organized work area to 5S standards Follow all safety, quality, and AS9100D procedures What we're looking for Mechanical aptitude — automotive, ag, fabrication, trades, small engines, fixing your own stuff all count Reliable attendance. This is the single largest factor in success here Basic shop math (fractions, decimals, unit conversion) Ability to take direction and ask questions rather than guess Attention to detail on parts where tolerances are measured in thousandths Prior manufacturing or shop experience helpful, not required High school diploma or GED Physical requirements Standing for the majority of an 8-10 hour shift; lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly; bending, reaching, and repetitive hand use.

Schedule First shift:

5:00 am to2:00 pm. (M - Thurs, OT on Friday) Second shift: 2:00 pm to 12:00 am ($1.50/hr premium). (M - Thurs, OT on Friday) Overtime is available and at times required. Your first two years You'll train directly alongside experienced machinists. Expect structured progression through machine operation, in-process inspection, tooling, and eventually setup. Wage reviews at 6 and 12 months tied to demonstrated competency. The path from here is Machinist 2, which runs $24.00-$30.00/hour .
