What we are looking for:
We are currently seeking a full-time Golf Course Mechanic to join our team. The Golf Course Mechanic maintains and repairs golf course equipment, maintenance vehicles, and small-engine machinery. This position ensures equipment is safe, dependable, properly adjusted, and available for daily course-maintenance operations.
Responsibilities will include:
Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, and repair golf course and landscaping equipment. Maintain and repair riding and walking mowers, utility carts, golf carts, tractors, aerators, sprayers, blowers, and other small-engine or motorized equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, belt adjustments, battery replacements and checks, and tire repairs. Sharpen, grind, adjust, and properly set mower reels, bed knives, and cutting units. Diagnoses and troubleshoot gasoline, diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Perform welding, fabrication, tire repair, and emergency field repairs when qualified. Conduct routine safety inspections and promptly remove unsafe or malfunctioning equipment from service. Maintain accurate service records and preventive-maintenance schedules for all equipment and vehicles. Order and maintain an appropriate inventory of replacement parts, fluids, filters, tools, and shop supplies. Keep the maintenance shop clean, organized, and compliant with applicable safety requirements. Properly store and dispose of fuel, oil, batteries, chemicals, and other materials properly. Coordinate equipment availability and repair priorities with the golf course superintendent or manager. Communicate equipment concerns, estimated repair costs, and replacement recommendations to management. Train employees in safe and proper operation, inspection, and daily care of equipment. Repair or maintain golf carts and other community vehicles as assigned. Follow manufacturer recommendations and all company and workplace safety procedures. Assist with golf course and grounds maintenance when mechanical responsibilities and equipment need allows, including mowing, landscaping, course setup, flag maintenance, and similar duties. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and expectations:
Previous experience repairing golf courses, landscaping, automotive, small-engine, or similar equipment. Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and small engines. Experience sharpening, grinding, and adjusting reel-type mowing equipment. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate repairs. Ability to read equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and parts diagrams. Ability to use diagnostic tools, grinders, welders, and standard shop equipment safely. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds and perform physical work throughout the workday. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate service and maintenance records. Dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Ability and willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.
