Starting Pay:
$20.00 per Hour Windham Region Transit District (WRTD) is seeking a reliable and motivated Maintenance Attendant to help maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of our transit vehicles, facilities, bus stops, and grounds. This hands-on position includes vehicle cleaning and detailing, janitorial services, groundskeeping, facility upkeep, and snow and ice removal. Qualified candidates must possess a valid Connecticut driver's license and be willing to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire . WRTD will provide CDL training and support. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, able to work independently, and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean, wash, and detail transit vehicles, including buses, vans, and support fleet vehicles. Fuel vehicles and perform diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) servicing. Check and top off vehicle fluids, including engine oil, coolant, windshield washer fluid, transmission fluid, and other approved fluids as needed. Perform light vehicle maintenance and repairs, including replacing wiper blades, light bulbs, and maintaining proper tire pressure. Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or repair needs to supervisory staff. Perform janitorial services, including cleaning offices, restrooms, break rooms, and other facilities. Maintain bus stops, passenger shelters, and agency properties. Perform mowing, trimming, landscaping, and general groundskeeping duties. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots, bus stops, shelters, and agency facilities. Safely operate cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal equipment. Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, accidents, or property damage. Assist with facility upkeep, special projects, and seasonal maintenance activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Valid Connecticut Driver's License Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months (training provided) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to work outdoors year-round Ability to obtain
