Job Description:
Oakton College is seeking a dedicated instructor for a skills course in Welding. This accelerated course introduces students to welding fundamentals, safety practices, and basic fabrication techniques. Students gain hands-on experience with SMAW and GMAW processes, along with oxy-fuel cutting. Emphasis is placed on safety, weld quality, and job readiness aligned with AWS standards. Essential Functions of the
Position:
Refine existing curriculum as applicable Preparation of additional instructional materials (as appropriate) Delivery of instruction, including being prepared for and conducting courses and, laboratories at scheduled times
Safety Management:
Enforce rigorous safety regulations, ensure the proper use of protective gear, and maintain a hazard-free lab environment. Assess and reflect on student progress Classroom management Collaboration with Oakton staff and host site Compliance with departmental and institutional policies and procedures including but not limited to submission of final grades
Requirements:
Active welding credential Active safety credential 3-5+ years of professional experience in structural fabrication, pipe welding, or related fields 2+ years of Instructional experience Working knowledge of current AWS standards Experience with on line learning platforms Excellent communication, patience, and the ability and desire to effectively demonstrate manual skills to diverse student populations
