until filled Nine (9) month each year Qualifications and Skills - Small Engine Instructor Demonstrated knowledge of small engine systems, including two-cycle and four-cycle engines, fuel systems, ignition systems, and basic electrical components Practical experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines (e.g., lawn equipment, chainsaws, generators, and similar equipment) Ability to safely operate and instruct students in the use of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment Strong understanding of shop safety procedures and ability to enforce safety standards consistently Skill in breaking down complex mechanical concepts into clear, step-by-step instruction appropriate for high school students Classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a structured, disciplined, and productive learning environment Ability to develop lesson plans that combine hands-on learning with foundational mechanical theory Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with students, parents, and school staff Basic computer skills for grading, lesson planning, and instructional support Commitment to student success, including the ability to motivate and engage students with varying skill levels Preferred / Additional Qualifications (if applicable): Industry certification (e.g., Briggs & Stratton, EETC, or similar) Prior teaching or training experience, especially in Career and Technical Education (CTE) Experience working with adolescents in an educational or training setting Please attach a copy of your Louisiana License and certificate(s) or degree to application Small Engine (4-stroke) Instructor Jennings, LA 70546
