Qualifications:

To qualify at the GS- 13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Applies laws, treaties, conventions, regulations, and directives relating to vessel navigation, inspection, manning, and pollution prevention to develop new techniques, legal interpretations, and district-wide policies, procedures, and strategies alongside various Headquarters programs and professional networks. Leverages expert knowledge of marine safety training and databases/support systems to manage field-unit partnerships and sustain specialized marine inspector qualifications supporting the Great Lakes fleet. Proficient in Coast Guard authorities, rulemaking and Great Lakes fleet regulations; designs innovative, technologically advanced solutions to address operational vulnerabilities and shape significant maritime policies. Develops and communicates innovative strategies to mitigate operational vulnerabilities, resolving complex challenges through advanced technological methods. Demonstrates technical knowledge of the marine industry, including vessel inspections and casualty investigations, and determines the impact of worldwide marine technology and safety regulations on operational safety.
