Responsibilities may include:
Performing assigned DOT inspections in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements. Accurately documenting inspection findings, defects, and completed services. Completing and submitting required forms, reports, and supporting documentation promptly. Communicating professionally with drivers, fleet managers, customers, and the DOT Mobile Express team. Maintaining any certifications, credentials, tools, and records required to perform assigned work. Following DOT Mobile Express procedures, service standards, and contractor guidelines. Managing accepted assignments independently and arriving within agreed appointment windows. Protecting customer information and maintaining a professional appearance and conduct in the field. Required Qualifications You must meet all of the following requirements: Already certified and legally qualified to perform the applicable DOT inspections. Prior hands-on experience inspecting commercial motor vehicles. Working knowledge of applicable DOT and FMCSA inspection requirements. Ability to identify and accurately document safety-related defects. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel throughout the Spokane service area. Smartphone with dependable cellular and internet access. Ability to complete and submit digital documents, photographs, and inspection records. Strong attention to detail and professional communication skills. Ability to operate independently and manage accepted assignments reliably. Willingness and ability to work as an independent contractor, subject to the terms of the contractor agreement. Ability to provide documentation verifying required certifications before receiving assignments. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing mobile or on-site commercial vehicle inspections. Experience working with commercial fleets, owner-operators, repair facilities, or transportation companies. Familiarity with common fleet vehicles, trailers, and related commercial equipment. Availability for occasional short-notice, evening, or weekend assignments. Existing inspection tools and equipment appropriate for the services performed. Ability to serve areas beyond Spokane when mutually agreed upon. Contractor Opportunity This position is structured as an independent-contractor opportunity, not traditional employment. Contractors may accept or decline offered assignments in accordance with the contractor agreement.
