Job Description
Overview - THIS
IS NOT A MANAGEMENT POSITION - THIS PERSON WILL BE WORKING
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Skilled Shipping Person to oversee and coordinate all shipping on a 2nd shift. This vital role requires a proactive leader who can manage a shipping department with minimal supervision. Candidate must be computer literate, must be able to process shipping to multiple locations and get the trucks loaded in a timely manner while keeping the loads straight. Qualifications- Ability to perform essential responsibilities and physical demands.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, operations or related field.
- Minimum of (3) three years of manufacturing shipping experience.
- Strong knowledge of shipping operations, scheduling trucks, loading procedures, material handling, completing paperwork and bill of lading.
- Experience with ERP systems
- Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Utilize the Shipping Schedules and Production Schedules in due date order to coordinate on-time delivery of products. Exceptions will be communicated by production control or operations manager.
- Direct all activities associated with outbound shipments from order fulfillment to final delivery ensuring shipments are accurate, complete, properly packaged, and free from damage.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes, efficiency, and material flow within the shipping area. n
- Communicate with shipping carriers, maintain professional communication with carriers
- Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy.
- Keep Operations Manager advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments.
- Read and interpret drawings, follow routers and use simple math to perform basic calculations.
- Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
- Participate in the implementation and roll-out of lean principles using 5S methods and tools.
- Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.
- Maintain work area and equipment in clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
- Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
- Perform all other duties, as assigned.
