Overview - THIS
IS NOT A MANAGEMENT POSITION - THIS PERSON WILL BE WORKING
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Skilled Shipping Person to oversee and coordinate all shipping on a 2nd shift. This vital role requires a proactive leader who can manage a shipping department with minimal supervision. Candidate must be computer literate, must be able to process shipping to multiple locations and get the trucks loaded in a timely manner while keeping the loads straight. Qualifications
  • Ability to perform essential responsibilities and physical demands.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, operations or related field.
  • Minimum of (3) three years of manufacturing shipping experience.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping operations, scheduling trucks, loading procedures, material handling, completing paperwork and bill of lading.
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Utilize the Shipping Schedules and Production Schedules in due date order to coordinate on-time delivery of products. Exceptions will be communicated by production control or operations manager.
  • Direct all activities associated with outbound shipments from order fulfillment to final delivery ensuring shipments are accurate, complete, properly packaged, and free from damage.
  • Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes, efficiency, and material flow within the shipping area. n
  • Communicate with shipping carriers, maintain professional communication with carriers
  • Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy.
  • Keep Operations Manager advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments.
  • Read and interpret drawings, follow routers and use simple math to perform basic calculations.
  • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
  • Participate in the implementation and roll-out of lean principles using 5S methods and tools.
  • Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
  • Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.
Skills Extensive experience in manufacturing, logistics, and shipping to multiple locations Proficiency in inventory control systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory management software such as AS400. Skilled in process improvement methodologies like lean management to optimize workflows. Mechanical knowledge related to materials handling equipment operation including forklifts and heavy lifting techniques. Excellent communication skills for managerial interactions, team leadership, and coordination with external partners like 3PL providers. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards, OSHA training certifications preferred. Competence in Microsoft Office tools for reporting, documentation, and communication purposes. Pay:
$24.24 - $28.00 per hour
