Traffic Control Coordinator Position Summary Responsible for coordinating and supervising traffic control operations for roadway construction and maintenance activities. Ensures work zones are safely established, maintained, and removed in accordance with approved traffic control/MPT plans, MUTCD, NJDOT requirements, and applicable safety regulations. Pay rate to be determined by experience.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and supervise traffic control crews and flagging operations. Install, maintain, inspect, and remove traffic control devices, including signs, cones, drums, barricades, arrow boards, and other work-zone equipment. Ensure traffic control setups comply with approved plans, MUTCD, NJDOT requirements, and project specifications. Conduct routine work-zone inspections and immediately correct or report unsafe or non-compliant conditions. Direct crew members, assign work, and ensure required traffic control coverage is maintained. Communicate traffic control requirements and changes to project supervisors, construction crews, inspectors, and other personnel. Respond to changing traffic and work-zone conditions and take appropriate corrective action. Promote safe work practices and ensure employees use required PPE and follow applicable safety procedures. Stop or suspend traffic control operations when conditions cannot be safely maintained and notify appropriate management. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Current NJDOT/Rutgers Traffic Control Coordinator (TCC) certification Minimum 4,000 hours of highway work-zone field experience required for TCC designation. Completion of the required NJDOT/Rutgers Work Zone Safety Awareness or Flagger Training. Working knowledge of the

MUTCD, NJDOT

traffic control requirements, and MPT/Traffic Control Plans. 2 years' experience leading or supervising traffic control personnel. Ability to work safely in active roadway work zones, including nights, weekends, and varying weather conditions.
