24-Hour Hotel & Casino Parking Management Services of America (PMSA) is currently hiring a full-time Shift Lead for a 24-hour hotel and casino operation in Bell Gardens, California. The Shift Lead serves as the senior hourly operational lead during an assigned shift and is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and professional operation of valet parking services. This position provides day-to-day operational direction to Valet Attendants and Team Leads and serves as a primary point of communication between frontline employees, the Schedule Coordinator, and PMSA management. The Shift Lead also holds important cash-handling responsibilities, including reconciling customer payments, maintaining proper custody of funds, and completing deposits in accordance with PMSA procedures. This is a hands-on position. Shift Leads actively participate in valet operations, including greeting customers, checking vehicles in and out through SMS Valet software, accepting payments, parking and retrieving vehicles, and assisting with traffic and parking-area management. This position requires strong judgment, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced environment. Important - Scope of Authority The Shift Lead is an hourly operational leadership position and is not a management position with independent personnel authority . Shift Leads may provide operational direction, training, coaching, and guidance to employees during their assigned shifts. However, Shift Leads do not have independent authority to hire, terminate, discipline, suspend, promote, demote, or take other significant personnel actions. Employee performance, conduct, attendance, or disciplinary concerns must be documented and escalated to the Manager or other designated PMSA management personnel for review and action. Because the position does not exercise this level of independent managerial authority, Shift Leads may be eligible to participate in applicable employee tip-pooling arrangements. Key Responsibilities1. Shift Leadership & Operational Support Provide clear operational direction and support to Valet Attendants and Team Leads during assigned shifts. Help maintain an organized, professional, and efficient valet operation. Assist with training and onboarding new employees regarding operational procedures, customer service standards, safety practices, and company policies. Provide appropriate real-time operational coaching and guidance to employees. Observe employee performance and adherence to established procedures and report significant performance or conduct concerns to the Manager. Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and a positive work environment. Ensure employees follow established PMSA operating procedures and client-specific requirements. Serve as a central point of communication between frontline employees, Team Leads, the Schedule Coordinator, and PMSA management. Communicate significant operational issues, staffing concerns, customer incidents, or emergencies promptly to appropriate management personnel. Facilitate an orderly transition between shifts and communicate outstanding operational matters to the incoming Shift Lead. 2. Administrative & Cash-Handling Responsibilities Monitor employee attendance, call-offs, shift changes, and other staffing-related matters and promptly report concerns to the Schedule Coordinator and/or Manager. Coordinate and assign employee meal and rest breaks in accordance with PMSA policy and applicable California requirements. Maintain accurate operational records and complete required shift documentation. Document and report incidents, unusual occurrences, customer complaints, and operational concerns. Support compliance with PMSA policies, client requirements, and applicable laws and regulations. Accurately reconcile cash and other customer payments received during the assigned shift. Maintain appropriate custody and control of company and customer funds. Complete required cash reconciliation and deposit procedures. Deposit funds into designated drop boxes or transfer funds to authorized company personnel in accordance with PMSA procedures and management direction. Promptly report discrepancies involving cash, payment transactions, or reconciliation records. 3. Valet Operations & Customer Service Maintain excellent customer service and professionalism at all times. Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with customers, employees, casino personnel, and other members of the public. Create a welcoming and professional environment for all patrons. Greet valet customers and assist with opening vehicle doors when appropriate. Check vehicles into the valet operation using SMS Valet software . Conduct visual vehicle inspections during check-in and accurately document observable pre-existing damage. Process customer payments, including cash and credit-card transactions, through SMS Valet. Safely park and retrieve customer vehicles from designated parking areas. Operate vehicles equipped with both automatic and manual transmissions . Issue and manage numbered valet tags and other vehicle-control materials. Assist with the orderly flow of vehicles entering and exiting the valet operation. Lift, move, and position barricades and other traffic-control equipment as operationally necessary. Open or close designated parking areas as directed. Charge electric vehicles when required. Provide customers with directions and guidance regarding self-parking areas when appropriate. Address customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly. Escalate unresolved or significant customer concerns to the Manager or appropriate PMSA management personnel. Maintain the cleanliness and orderly appearance of valet and parking areas, including sweeping and removing debris when necessary. 4. Safety & Security Follow and reinforce established PMSA safety procedures. Remain alert to vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the assigned shift. Monitor valet and parking areas for unsafe conditions, suspicious activity, unauthorized access, theft, property damage, or other potential security concerns. Immediately report accidents, injuries, vehicle damage, security concerns, and other significant incidents according to PMSA procedures. Complete required incident documentation accurately and promptly. Cooperate with casino security and other authorized personnel when appropriate and consistent with PMSA procedures. Protect customer vehicles, keys, company property, payment information, and other sensitive materials while under PMSA control. Physical & Work Environment Requirements This is an active, customer-facing position performed primarily in an outdoor valet parking environment. Shift Leads must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, and run throughout an assigned shift. Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Safely enter, exit, park, and retrieve a variety of customer vehicles throughout the shift. Lift, move, and position barricades, equipment, and other items weighing up to approximately 30 pounds . Maintain concentration and situational awareness in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. Manage a high volume of verbal, telephone, and electronic communications, particularly during peak periods or emergencies. Remain on the clock and at the job site until properly relieved by the incoming Shift Lead and required shift-transition and revenue-reconciliation procedures have been completed. Maintain flexible availability based on operational needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Be available to assist with open-shift coverage when operationally necessary. Occasionally work up to six days in a workweek based on operational requirements. Such scheduling is not expected to exceed two consecutive weeks and will be administered in accordance with applicable law and PMSA policy. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in valet parking, parking operations, hospitality, transportation, guest services, or another comparable high-volume service environment. Prior experience providing operational leadership, employee direction, training, or shift-level coordination is strongly preferred. Significant valet parking experience is strongly preferred. An Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution is preferred , but relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Demonstrated ability to handle cash, reconcile transactions, and maintain accurate records. Must possess a valid California driver's license . Must be capable of safely operating both automatic and manual-transmission vehicles. Must provide a current DMV H-6 driving record , issued within the previous 30 days. No DUI convictions. No two-point driving violations/incidents reflected on the DMV H-6 within the previous five (5) years. Must successfully complete required criminal background investigation and reference verification. Must be willing to submit to drug screening and, when applicable, a medical examination consistent with company requirements and applicable law. Must comply with PMSA policies, operating procedures, safety requirements, and client-specific requirements. Must maintain professional grooming and comply with PMSA uniform and dress-code standards whenever reporting to work. Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding cash handling, vehicle control, and operational documentation. Sound judgment and problem-solving ability. Ability to resolve customer-service issues calmly and professionally. Ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees, management, casino personnel, and customers. Ability to remain composed and effective during high-volume periods, operational disruptions, and emergencies. Familiarity with workforce-management, scheduling, valet, or point-of-sale systems is preferred. Working knowledge of employee meal and rest-break requirements and the ability to administer break schedules in accordance with company policy. Ability to work independently within established procedures while recognizing when an issue requires escalation to management.
