In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments, ensuring timely and comfortable service. Your role is essential in supporting patient care by providing reliable, courteous, and professional transportation services. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a keen understanding of safety protocols to deliver exceptional medical transportation experience. Hours will vary according to scheduled transports. Nearly all transports are scheduled M-F between 7 am and 4 pm. Very occasionally a Saturday transport is scheduled. We will work with your availability. This job is perfect for retirees! Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vans to transport patients to medical facilities, ensuring adherence to traffic laws and safety regulations. Assist patients with boarding and disembarking vehicles, providing support for those with mobility challenges or special needs. Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and vehicle maintenance needs while ensuring compliance with state transportation regulations. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address any concerns promptly. Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform basic maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues to ensure vehicle safety and reliability. Follow all traffic laws and safety procedures diligently while navigating local routes or designated transportation areas. Handle heavy lifting or manual handling tasks when assisting patients or managing equipment during transit. Qualifications Proven delivery driver experience or shuttle driving background with a focus on passenger safety and customer service preferred but not required. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating passenger vans, buses, or limousine services preferred. Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Experience in medical transportation or paratransit services is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently while maintaining a compassionate attitude toward passengers.
