Overview Join our team as an After-School Van Driver and become a vital part of providing safe, reliable transportation for students and community members. In this role, you will operate a passenger van to transport children school to the After-School Program at Jewish for Good. Duties Safely operate passenger van, following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. Pick up and drop off students at designated locations, ensuring timely and secure transportation. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including wheelchair assistance when necessary. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid protocols. Maintain communication with dispatch or supervisors using clear, professional language to report delays or issues. Conduct routine vehicle inspections before each shift to ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness; perform quick responses to traffic changes or road hazards. Manage student behavior with positive discipline techniques while fostering a respectful environment onboard. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and state/local commercial driving laws applicable to passenger vehicles. Certification in first aid, CPR, and emergency stop procedures for transportation is highly desirable. Experience working with children or seniors; strong behavior management skills are essential. Ability to lift heavy items safely when assisting passengers or handling equipment; physical stamina required for long periods of driving and standing. Excellent communication skills. Familiarity with school policies, student discipline procedures, and transportation safety regulations is advantageous.
