NEMA Role Overview As a Wheelchair Van Driver (MAVO credential required), you will be a key member of our team providing safe, dependable transportation for clients relying on wheelchair‐accessible vehicles. You'll help patients get to doctor's appointments, clinics, hospitals and other destinations — treating them with dignity and a smile.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible van, adhering to all DOT, Medicaid and agency regulations Pick up and transport clients on schedule — being punctual is critical Assist clients with boarding and disembarking — ensuring safe securement of wheelchairs Provide courteous, patient-first customer service and maintain a professional appearance Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and follow dispatch instructions Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection and report any issues Maintain cleanliness and readiness of your assigned van Qualifications Valid NJ Driver's License in good standing MAVO certification (or able to obtain)(available inhouse) CPR (available inhouse) Comfortable driving in both urban and suburban environments throughout Ocean & Atlantic counties Strong communication skills and ability to interact respectfully with clients of all mobility levels Punctual, reliable, dependable Able to safely assist clients entering/exiting wheelchair vans and secure transport equipment Basic vehicle inspection and maintenance awareness Friendly, compassionate demeanor and strong customer service ethic Why NEMA?
