Position Purpose The School van Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of enrolled children to and from local schools in accordance with Department of Human Services (DHS) child care licensing regulations, center policies, and all applicable state and local transportation laws. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transport children to and from schools during before and after care hours in compliance with DHS child care licensing regulations Ensure children are properly supervised, seated, and secured at all times while in the vehicle Conduct and document daily vehicle safety inspections prior to use, including checks of brakes, lights, tires, mirrors, and emergency equipment Maintain accurate transportation attendance records and route documentation as required by DHS Follow all center transportation policies, emergency procedures, and mandated reporting requirements Maintain appropriate child-to-driver supervision at all times during transportation and transitions Assist children safely when entering and exiting the vehicle Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary vehicle environment Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, mechanical concerns, or unsafe conditions to center administration Communicate professionally with school personnel, families, and center leadership while maintaining confidentiality of child and family information Qualifications and Requirements Valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated, in accordance with state transportation laws Clean driving record as verified by a motor vehicle record check Must meet DHS child care staff qualifications, including: Criminal background check Child abuse clearance FBI fingerprinting Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to transporting children Must be physically and mentally capable of safely supervising and transporting children Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of DHS child care transportation regulations Ability to implement safety procedures and emergency protocols Ability to maintain appropriate supervision and control of children during transport Effective communication and documentation skills Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle Ability to assist children in entering and exiting the vehicle Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations Work Schedule Split shift: before school and after school hours, based on school calendars and program needs

7:45am-9:00am
Afternoon:
2:30pm-4:00pm Monday through Friday. The schedule might change depending on the school schedule. We follow Southeast Delco and WIlliam Penn School District. Kids Connection is an equal opportunity employer.
