This Position will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Town of Cumberland and the Teamster's Local 251 Union. Hours for this position are 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Monday - Friday.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Van Driver will operate under the written or verbal direction of the Social Services Social Director and the Director of Senior Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Services Driver works with the Senior Services Social Director and is responsible for but not limited to:

• Operating of the senior van which provides transportation from residence homes and all senior high rises to senior center, supermarkets, mall, trips to restaurants, shows and other special events;
• Adding fuel to vehicles as needed;
• Maintaining records relating to daily van itinerary;
• Ensuring passengers enter and exit the vehicle safely;
• Maintaining the interior and exterior of the vans at all times and reports all defects or malfunctions to the Senior Director. Complete work orders for all van repairs and submit them to Highway Department.
• Renewing state inspection and registration for vehicles;
• Performing general labor type tasks when available at the Senior Center which includes table setup, removal of chairs, empty rubbish and preparations for meetings and events;
• Carrying out light maintenance duties such as painting, sweeping and washing floors; and
• Assisting with BINGO and other special events.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and

EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED at a minimum At least 2 to 3 years of experience working with seniors preferred Strong work ethic and positive attitude Valid Rhode Island CDL License P Endorsement Certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation preferred Ability to aid passengers in the event of an accident or other emergency Available for possible overtime for special events and trips

Pay:

From $27.38 per hour Expected hours: 37.75 per week
