Job Description

Overview Join our team as a School Van Driver and be a vital part of ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of students to and from school. This energetic role requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about safety, customer service, and working with children. As a School Van Driver, you will operate vehicles designed for student transportation, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations while providing a positive experience for students and their families. Your commitment will help foster a secure environment that promotes learning and growth for young learners. Schedule Part-time (split shift) Monday
  • Friday, 6:45
  • 8:15 AM and 2:00PM
  • 4:30PM Duties Safely operate school vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations.
Ensure the safety of all passengers by following emergency response procedures for transportation and implementing defensive driving techniques. Assist students with disabilities or mobility challenges by ensuring proper behavior management during transit. Conduct pre-trip inspections, including checking vehicle condition, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and emergency equipment to guarantee vehicle readiness. Maintain clear communication with school staff, and parents, using effective verbal and written communication skills. Respond quickly to traffic changes or road hazards to ensure timely arrivals and departures while prioritizing passenger safety. Uphold school policies related to student discipline, behavior management, and passenger safety protocols at all times. Experience Proven good driving record, no major accidents or moving violations in the past 5 years. and valid Texas driver's license Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local driving laws, and transportation safety regulations. Experience working with children or in environments requiring behavior management and student discipline skills. Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable to respond effectively during emergencies. Multilingual abilities are a plus to communicate effectively with diverse student populations. Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, quick response to traffic changes, heavy lifting requirements for loading/unloading students or equipment, and understanding of school policy knowledge related to student safety is preferred.
