Job Summary:

FBCM Gifted Minds Academy is seeking an responsible and reliable van driver to transport children to and from school following a route and ensuring safety. The van driver's responsibilities include ensuring proper vehicle maintenance, observing safety and traffic laws and maintaining order among students while on the van. To be a successful van driver you should enjoy working with children and prioritize passenger safety.

Essential Functions:

Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensuring passenger safety. Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops. Monitoring and reporting fuel consumption, mileage and passenger numbers. Reporting delays, accidents and emergencies. Maintaining a clean vehicle. Inspecting the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip. Regularly checking vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals, mechanical equipment, etc. Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the van. Responding to emergency and non emergency situations Assisting with loading and unloading when required. Demonstrate reliability and punctuality by arriving on time for scheduled shifts. 12. Adhere to all Childcare Program and Church policies and procedures.

Must be committed to Christ and have passion for ministry at FBCM. Exhibit high standards of Christian Conduct. Understand and be committed to the church vision, mission and core values. Must be communicative with the Program Director as it pertains to all attendance concerns.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

High energy and ability to work well with others (staff and children) CPR and First Aid Certification Must clear background checks and pass all health screenings. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Must be (18) years of age and meet the following requirements: High school diploma or GED Prior experience as a van or bus driver Clean driving record Experience working with children. Excellent communication skills Knowledge of first aid procedures.

Physical Requirements:

Bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, crawling may be required. A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see close and distant objects, colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception. Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.

Work Environment:

Ability to work well in a church environment.
