This position is located in Port Washington, WI The Van Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of students and/or other passengers in accordance with company policies, state regulations, and school district requirements. The driver ensures a positive customer service experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and dependability. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a company-provided passenger van along assigned routes and schedules. Transport students, special needs passengers, or other authorized riders to and from schools, programs, and designated locations. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition. Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies at all times. Maintain proper student/passenger management through positive communication and consistent enforcement of safety rules. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed, including securing mobility devices and ensuring seatbelts are properly fastened. Immediately report any safety concerns, mechanical issues, delays, or incidents to the dispatcher or supervisor. Keep the van clean and presentable for daily use. Accurately complete daily logs, reports, and other required documentation. Attend all required safety meetings, trainings, and refresher courses. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum age of 21 years. Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record. Must meet all state and local requirements for transporting school children (may include background checks, medical exam, and/or drug testing). Prior experience in passenger transportation preferred but not required. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, school staff, and coworkers. Commitment to punctuality, reliability, and safe driving practices. Ability to assist passengers with special needs in a respectful and safe manner. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods of time while driving. Ability to assist passengers in and out of the vehicle as necessary. Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections (bending, crouching, and light lifting may be required). Work Environment Driving in various weather and traffic conditions. Interaction with students, parents, school staff, and the general public. May require split shifts (morning and afternoon routes).
