Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Travel Foreman to lead field operations on commercial construction projects across multiple states as needed. This is a contract position — candidates must be willing and able to travel within the state to assigned project sites, with overnight stays required when projects are beyond reasonable commuting distance. Top performers are eligible for conversion to direct hire. The ideal candidate brings dual expertise in commercial general contracting — wood framing, light gauge steel framing, and CMU/concrete block construction — and electrical work, with strong conduit installation and bending proficiency. Experience on retail commercial builds, warehouses, and/or data centers is strongly preferred.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Structural /General Contracting Scope:
Lead and execute wood framing operations — wall layout, floor and roof systems, stairwells, blocking, fire blocking, sheathing, and hold-down hardware per structural drawings Direct light gauge steel (LGS) framing for commercial interiors and exteriors: track, stud layout, headers, curtain wall framing, shaft walls, and soffits Oversee CMU and concrete block construction: layout, coursing, reinforcement placement, lintel installation, and coordination with masonry subcontractors where applicable Interpret and build from architectural, structural, and shop drawings across all three structural systems without direct supervision Coordinate structural sequencing with concrete, MEP, roofing, and envelope trades to maintain schedule integrity on commercial sites Perform layout of wall lines, openings, bearing conditions, and MEP rough-in backing/blocking for retail, warehouse, and data center project types Electrical /Conduit Scope:
Install and route EMT, rigid (GRC), IMC, and PVC conduit systems — underground, in-slab, exposed, and concealed conditions Execute complex conduit bends using hand, mechanical, and hydraulic benders — offsets, saddles, 3-point and 4-point bends, segmented bends for large-diameter pipe Read and work from electrical construction drawings: one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, lighting plans, and equipment connection details Install pull boxes, junction boxes, conduit bodies, cable tray, unistrut, and support systems in coordination with structural framing layout Oversee wire and cable pulling through conduit systems; maintain NEC-compliant fill ratios, protection, and termination prep Coordinate conduit routing with structural framing, HVAC ductwork, and plumbing to avoid conflicts and maintain access Support panel rough-in, service equipment placement, and distribution system installation as directed by master electrician or electrical contractor Foreman /Crew Leadership:
Manage a mixed crew of carpenters, framers, electricians, and apprentices — typically 5-15 workers — across active commercial job sites Develop and execute daily and weekly work plans; set production targets and assign tasks based on project sequencing and crew skill Coordinate with GC superintendent and other trade foremen for sequencing, space conflicts, and inspection scheduling Conduct daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning; enforceOSHA 29 CFR 1926
standards and site-specific safety plans Track labor hours, material usage, and production against budget; report variances to PM or superintendent Ensure work is inspection-ready at all structural, rough-in, and close-in milestones; coordinate AHJ and CIB inspections for both structural and electrical scope Identify and document RFIs, change order triggers, and scope conflicts; escalate promptly through proper channels Mentor apprentice and journeyman-level crew members; model quality standards, code compliance, and professional conduct Project-Type Experience (any combination valued): Retail /Commercial:
Anchor tenant buildouts, shell and TI framing, storefront backing, equipment curb and support framing, LGS interior systems, panel and distribution rough-in Warehouse /Distribution:
Tilt-up coordination, CMU perimeter walls, steel deck support framing, large-bay conduit runs, high-bay lighting rough-in, dock and door framingData Centers:
High-density conduit routing and cable tray systems, raised floor support framing, hot aisle/cold aisle wall and ceiling systems, generator and UPS electrical infrastructure, critical path coordinationQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Valid qualifying Journeyman Electrician license Minimum 5+ years of combined commercial construction experience spanning at least two of the three structural systems: wood framing, light gauge steel framing, CMU/concrete block Minimum 3+ years of commercial electrical field experience with demonstrated conduit installation and bending proficiency Demonstrated crew leadership — ability to manage and coordinate a multi-trade field crew of 5-15 workers on active commercial sites Expert proficiency reading architectural, structural, and electrical construction drawings simultaneously Working knowledge ofIBC, NEC
2023, and applicable OSHA construction standards Valid driver's license; willingness and ability to travel to project sites with overnight stays as required Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and sustain physical demands across full shifts on active commercial sites Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screeningPreferred:
