Aug 31, 2026 Job Description Windham Woods School is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and organized Student Support Specialist to join our Upper School team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in special education who is passionate about supporting adolescents both academically and emotionally. The ideal candidate will serve as an advocate, mentor, coach, and steady presence throughout the school day by helping students build organization, executive functioning, confidence, and independence. We are looking for someone who is nurturing, proactive, flexible, and deeply committed to helping students feel successful, supported, and understood. This position requires strong collaboration skills, emotional intelligence, and a genuine love for working with adolescents.   • Provide direct support to students throughout the school day, including accompanying students from class to class
  • Help students develop executive functioning skills, including: organization of materials, time management, task initiation and completion planning and prioritization
  • Prompt and redirect students during class in supportive and discreet ways
  • Support classroom teachers with differentiation of instruction and materials using special education best practices
  • Assist in modifying assignments, organizing materials, and scaffolding academic tasks
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students while maintaining upper school expectations
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with teachers, advisors, and families
  • Help students regulate emotionally and navigate social challenges throughout the school day
  • Foster student independence while providing consistent structure and support
