Job Description

Job Overview Catalina Adventure Tours is looking for an experienced and energetic USCG-licensed 100-Ton Captain to safely operate our passenger vessels while helping deliver exceptional, story-driven coastal and marine experiences. This role is more than driving the boat — our Captains are leaders, hosts, and tour ambassadors who set the tone for every trip. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, outgoing, comfortable on the mic, and passionate about creating unforgettable guest moments. Responsibilities Safely operate inspected passenger vessels in full compliance with USCG regulations and company SOPs Lead by example in all aspects of passenger and crew safety Deliver (or actively support) engaging, upbeat narrated tour experiences Create a fun, welcoming, and professional atmosphere for guests of all ages Conduct pre-departure checks, post-trip inspections, and daily readiness procedures Oversee safe boarding, docking, and mooring operations Maintain all required logs, safety checklists, and vessel documentation using modern systems Coordinate and communicate with crew and shoreside operations to ensure on-time departures and smooth daily flow Act as the primary decision-maker in emergency situations Support light vessel care, cleanliness, and presentation standards Experience Valid USCG Master 100-Ton Near Coastal License Current TWIC Current CPR / First Aid (or ability to obtain upon hire) Passenger vessel, tour boat, or high-volume guest experience preferred Confident, engaging personality — comfortable speaking to large groups Strong situational awareness and seamanship Team-first mindset with leadership presence Professional, positive, and solutions-oriented Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, cruise ship days, and peak seasons Ability to commute out of Newport Beach Why Work With Catalina Adventure Tours Work on the water in one of the most beautiful harbors in the world Be part of a high-energy, growth-focused team Opportunity for year-round advancement and cross-training Play a key role in delivering meaningful guest experiences for visitors and locals alike
