About This Role:
As a Scalehouse Weighmaster/Fiscal Technician, you will support the daily operation of the County's Landfill or Compost Facility by operating computerized weighing systems, assessing incoming loads, processing payments, and providing excellent customer service to commercial and public customers. You will work independently, assist with daily operations, and serve as a resource to the scalehouse staff when needed. You will also provide information to the public and help ensure compliance with County solid waste regulations. Responsibilities in this role may include, but are not limited to: Assess and collect fees accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced operational environment using basic math skills and proper cash-handling procedures; Perform accurate data entry using the scale software system; Respond to customer complaints and concerns in a professional and courteous manner; Reconcile receipts at the end of each shift; Prepare deposits and other documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures; Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, including the ability to remain composed and tactful when interacting with difficult people or situations, and maintain professional relationships with co-workers; Adhere to established rules, regulations, and procedures and clearly communicate requirements to the public.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of related experience
Preferences:
WeighMaster Certified A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience with direct cash handling and computer-based data entry is preferred A minimum of 2 years of front-line customer service experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is preferred Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred Special Requir ements: Must be able to obtain Weighmaster Certification within (1) year of employment.
Essential Service Requirement:
This position is an essential employee. Responding to emergencies, inclement weather, and other issues that may impact facility operations outside of regular working hours, including on holidays and weekends, is required.
Personal Protective Equipment and Uniform Requirement:
This job may require wearing a County-issued uniform and personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety shoes and a safety vest.
Work Environment:
This job requires a willingness and ability to work in an environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, odors, moving vehicles, and inclement weather. Work may require repetitive motion and prolonged sitting or standing.

Work Schedule:
Work schedules are determined based on coverage of Landfill and Compost Facility operations and are subject to change based on business needs. Working weekends and most holidays is required depending on staffing levels, assigned shift, and workload. Employees are eligible for overtime pay, weekend differential pay, and holiday pay.
Starting Salary Range :
