Job Description
We are looking to recruit a compassionate veterinary assistant to assist our veterinary team with nursing and other duties. The veterinary assistant will be responsible for the cleanliness of the clinic, assist in educating clients on animal health, support the safety and comfort of patients, and help to oversee continuity of care. You will collaborate with team members to create a positive, comfortable environment for patients. You will provide professional, efficient service at all times. To ensure success you need to love animals and have the ability to optimize their comfort during treatment and hospitalization. Preferred candidates are dexterous, knowledgeable, and caring.
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:
Greet clients and patients with a friendly demeanor Help with set up for surgical & dental procedures Gather necessary supplies for patient office visits Assist with holding animals in a fear-free manner for examinations, diagnostic procedures, & treatment Monitor patients during anesthesia & recovery Prepare samples for diagnostics (i.e. spin down blood tubes, set up for fecals, stain slides for cytology, etc.) Fill prescriptions Feed clinic animals & patients as well as walk dogs outside Sterilize surgery & dental equipment after use Clean exam room, surgery suite, & dental area after use Clean & disinfect kennels as well as set up kennels for next day Manage veterinary equipment Clean and fold laundry Prepare surgery packs Drop off lab specimens for delivery to lab Other duties as assignedVeterinary Assistant Requirements:
High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent. Affinity for animals. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong people skills. Outstanding organizational skills. Physically strong and dexterous, and ability to stand for extended periods. Available to work over weekends. Committed to and passionate about Indraloka's vision and values. Candidate must pass criminal history, child abuse, and FBI clearances.
