Epic Specialty & Emergency Pet Care is seeking a skilled and motivated Patient Care Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team. This position is ideal for a technician who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is passionate about advanced patient monitoring and critical case management. As an Patient Care Technician, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional nursing care to hospitalized and critically ill patients while working closely with our emergency doctors and specialty services. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, confident in their technical skills, and committed to providing outstanding patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill and hospitalized patients. Perform and monitor anesthesia and sedation as needed. Place and maintain IV catheters, urinary catheters, NG tubes, and other supportive devices. Accurately calculate and administer medications and CRIs. Monitor vital parameters, pain scores, fluid therapy, and patient response to treatment. Recognize and escalate changes in patient status promptly. Assist with emergency procedures including CPR (RECOVER guidelines preferred). Maintain detailed and accurate medical records. Communicate effectively with doctors and team members regarding patient updates and treatment plans. Provide compassionate client communication as directed by the medical team. Support and mentor junior technicians and assistants as appropriate.
Requirements:
Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred; experienced veterinary technicians considered. Minimum 2-3 years of veterinary experience; emergency or ICU experience strongly preferred. Strong proficiency in venipuncture, catheter placement, medication calculations, and patient monitoring. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to work overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to lift 40+ pounds and remain on feet for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in specialty or emergency medicine.
RECOVER CPR
certification. Interest in pursuing VTS (ECC) certification. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
