Warehouse Technician

Job Overview Tennessee Valley Specialties is seeking a dedicated Shop & Warehouse Coordinator to provide leadership, support, and discipline within our shop and warehouse department. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing shipping and receiving, maintaining inventory supplies, and fulfilling field employees' material requirements efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities Inventory & Shop Management:

Organize the shop and store all goods inventory. Receive, log, and organize incoming materials and process returns using SOS Inventory. Ensure all materials are marked with SOS Inventory barcodes.

Order Dispatching & Fulfillment:

Dispatch orders to field staff efficiently. Inspect all loads leaving the shop to ensure they are secure and complete. Keep company trucks off public streets and neighboring properties during loading and unloading.

Proactive Planning & Communication:

Communicate daily with field employees on material needs. Call each installer directly if you do not receive their daily material list by 2:00 PM. Plan outbound deliveries in advance, aiming for one consolidated round trip per day to avoid "reaction management".

Procurement:

Work with Purchase Orders (POs) to manage shop supplies and enter all new POs and expected requests into SOS Inventory for accurate forecasting.

Team Leadership:

Manage and direct warehouse personnel, including scheduling, work assignments, performance management, and accountability. Establish and enforce safety, compliance, and operational standards in accordance with company policy and OSHA requirements.

Maintenance:

Schedule and log vehicle maintenance, including in-house repair of trailer and truck lights. Schedule and track tool maintenance and replacement.

Quality Control:

Check returning materials, including shoring deliveries, scaffold post shores, and clamps. Check jobs on final clean-up.

Requirements & Qualifications Education:

High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate degree in business or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

3+ years of experience as a Shop Coordinator for a related operation with a minimum of $5 million in annual sales is required (5 years of experience preferred).

Licensing:

A valid Driver's License is required.

Skills:

Basic knowledge of Glass & Glazing, after-paint, and welding. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people. Ability to schedule and conduct the company's work orders. Working Conditions & Physical Demands Primarily operates indoors in a climate-controlled, smoke-free environment, with frequent movement through other areas that may have varying temperatures and moderate-to-high noise levels. Requires sitting for prolonged periods, along with a full range of body movements including the use of hands, bending, reaching, and crouching. Requires command of all five senses, including specific vision abilities (close vision, depth perception, and shifting focus from computer screens to close forms).
