Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Municipal & Contract Operations - Licensed Operator Required Texas Aquastore | Dallas-Fort Worth/ Austin- San Antonio TX | Full-Time Texas Aquastore is seeking a licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to oversee municipal and contract-operated wastewater treatment facilities. This role is responsible for the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of new and active wastewater treatment plants and is intended for experienced operators who understand regulatory accountability and real-world plant demands. This is not an administrative or office-based role. The Operator is accountable for plant performance, compliance, staffing, and emergency response. Candidates must have direct wastewater treatment plant operations experience and be comfortable working in regulated, 24/7 operating environments. Core Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of wastewater treatment plants to ensure continuous compliance with TCEQ, permit limits, and regulatory requirements Involved in plant construction, startup and building an operations team Monitor treatment processes, review operational data, and take corrective action when performance trends or compliance risks arise Ensure accurate completion of sampling, reporting, DMRs, logs, and operational records Coordinate and support preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and process equipment Lead response to plant alarms, upsets, equipment failures, and regulatory incidents Prepare for and participate in TCEQ inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries Enforce safety policies, confined space procedures, lockout/tagout, and site-specific safety plans Support plant startups, optimization efforts, and operational improvements as needed Communicate clearly with ownership, municipal clients, regulators, and internal teams Required Qualifications Direct wastewater treatment plant operations experience Texas Wastewater Operator License - Class C minimum (Class B or A strongly preferred) 5+ Prior years experience supervising operators or serving as lead operator Strong working knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulatory compliance Ability to respond to operational emergencies, compliance issues, and after-hours events Comfortable working in on-call rotations and supporting 24/7 plant operations Applicants without wastewater treatment plant operations experience or a Texas wastewater license will not be considered. Preferred Experience Municipal or contract-operated wastewater treatment facilities Plant startups, commissioning, or optimization projects Experience serving as Responsible Charge Operator (RCO) or Chief Operator Familiarity with SCADA systems, alarms, and process controls Work Schedule & On-Call Expectations Full-time, on-site role with regular plant presence Participation in on-call and emergency response rotation is required Occasional nights, weekends, or holidays may be necessary based on plant needs We value operations leaders who own compliance, lead from the plant floor, and make disciplined decisions under pressure.
