Weekend Diesel Mechanic

  • Part-time Arnold's Environmental Services is looking for a reliable and experienced Weekend Diesel Fleet Mechanic / Technician to help keep our fleet ready for the workweek.
This is a weekend-only position focused on routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel trucks, specialized fleet vehicles, and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong diesel repair experience, works independently, and takes pride in keeping equipment safe, reliable, and ready for Monday operations.
Responsibilities Responsibilities include:
Perform routine maintenance on diesel fleet vehicles, including oil changes, filters, fluids, inspections, and preventative maintenance. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Conduct DOT-related inspections and help ensure vehicles remain safe and compliant. Use diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot diesel engines and vehicle systems. Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed. Maintain accurate repair records, including parts used and labor time. Communicate repair needs, parts needs, and vehicle status to management. Help organize the shop and prepare vehicles/equipment for the upcoming week. Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work area. Support other shop or fleet-related tasks as needed. Requirements Minimum 2 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and diagnostics. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Experience with DOT inspections preferred. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Valid driver's license required. CDL is a plus, but not required. Must be reliable and available to work weekends. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally and work in shop/outdoor conditions. Ideal Candidate The right person for this role is someone who: Wants steady weekend work.
