Job Description

Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with global operations in 6 countries and serves customers in almost 60 countries. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington (USA), Trident employs approximately 7,700 people worldwide each year and partners with over 2,700 independent fishermen and crewmembers in Alaska. Trident catches and processes virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also encompasses cultured and wild species sourced from an international network of trusted suppliers.
Summary :
The Welder II works with arc welding equipment to fabricate or repair structures, machine parts, and plant/shipboard equipment. The employee will be trained and expected to be able to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and sketches; take directions verbally and understand and execute projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Sets up job site with welding equipment according to standards. Maintains job site safety by adhering to Trident and government safety standards. Learns to troubleshoots welding equipment problems. Maintains flow of materials needed on jobs. Welds structural and non-structural steel. Capable of basic parts fitting for welding. Proficient at utilizing measuring devices and cutting materials to specifications. Proficient with using oxy-fuel cutting equipment. Knowledgeable of proper rigging procedures. Proficient in the use of bandsaws, grinders, needle guns, and basic mechanical skills. Proficient at welding mild steel with stick and dual-shield. Proficient at TIG welding mild steel, stainless steel and/or aluminum. Proficient at fitting of parts to be welded. Able to read, understand and follow Welding Procedure Specifications. Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings. Displays ability to lead, manage, and supervise welding projects. Must be able to troubleshoot and communicate to supervisors and coworkers to resolve welding problems. Complies with and enforces all safety requirements. Maintains clean and orderly work site. Able to respond quickly to priority changes and work well under pressure due to scheduling constraints and perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management. Continues to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement. Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings. Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in SMAW and dual shield welding under a nationally recognized code/standard or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Successful completion of Trident's 3G/4G Stick and/or Flux Core Weld test, visually inspected to
AWS D1.1
standard. Demonstration of welding aluminum, stainless steel, and or pipe.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent GED, Associate Degree or skilled trades graduate preferred for more experienced positions, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work environment (includes travel/on-call): While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
The employee moves objects:
regularly up to 10 pounds frequently up to 25 pounds occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. May be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products. Must be capable of boarding and departing (exiting) a vessel without assistance by moving up or climbing a gangplank, the stern ramp of a vessel and/or a vertical ladder. Must be capable of boarding/departing the vessel by being lifted in a crane or manlift. May also enter and exit a skiff from a dock, plane, or a boat unassisted. Must meet at designated locations to receive instructions and place on a life jacket and an immersion suit without assistance in one minute or less. Must also move quickly without assistance to any designated lifeboat station.
