Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic wildfire response team as a Wildland Firefighter Water Tender Operator! In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating tactical water tenders. Your work will directly contribute to protecting communities, natural resources, and property from the devastating impacts of wildfires. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in challenging environments while making a meaningful difference in fire prevention and emergency response. Responsibilities Operate water tenders efficiently to supply water to firefighting crews in remote and rugged terrains during wildfire suppression activities Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of water tender equipment, ensuring mechanical reliability and safety standards are met Assist with setting up and managing water delivery systems at fire scenes, including drafting hoses, pumps, and other firefighting apparatus Support wildfire crew members by providing logistical assistance, including transporting personnel, equipment, and supplies as needed Follow all safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks during operations in hazardous environments Maintain accurate records of water usage, vehicle inspections, and operational logs for accountability and reporting purposes Respond promptly to emergency calls, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in high-pressure situations Skills Valid commercial driver's license with a clean driving record; experience with heavy vehicle operation preferred. Class B or A with tanker endorsement required. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while handling equipment or supplies in rugged outdoor conditions Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and emergency responders Physical fitness to endure long shifts outdoors in varying weather conditions Prefer FFT 1 or ENGB quals. Prefer current RT130 and pack test, but we will provide if needed. Live within 3-4 hours of Cambridge, Nebraska Job is call when needed. Expect to be out a lot this season.
