Assistant Collections Officer - Part Time Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union Toledo, OH Job Details Part-time $15 - $20 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications Business Management Compliance with loan regulations Interpersonal skills Microsoft Office Business Associate's degree Debt collection negotiation Full Job Description Job Overview TUFCU Collections Officer will contact members and inform them of their debts, negotiate payment plans, and ensure payments are made as soon as possible. Candidate must have patience and compassion when dealing with members. Candidate should also be comfortable instituting legal action when payments are not made. A successful candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal, mathematical, and negotiation skills. Ideal candidates will have a track record of success in loss reduction. Main Responsibilities You will be responsible for handling both inbound/outbound calls, and reaching out to members to collect payment or set up suitable payment arrangements for overdue bills, loans, or other payments. You will act as the link between the credit union and our members. Must have the ability to ask open ended questions and observe each member's financial state in order to establish the proper resolution for payment. Duties include receiving and processing payments and posting amount to member's account; initiating repossession proceedings; must keep organized and correct documentation of communications, records and status of accounts; Must work well independently and collectively. Skills Must have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Working knowledge of MS Office. Excellent communication and people skills, especially in negotiating and persuading. Professional phone etiquette Responsibilities of Collections Officer Reviewing the Credit Union debtor list Contacting members and informing them of their overdue loans. Advising members on their payment option and suggesting methods of payment. Maintaining members payment records Daily checks of system originated notices, member accounts with notices. Mailing of daily notices. Recommendation and instigation of legal action when members fail to honor loan agreements. Respond to member quires Must be a team player Qualification for Collections Officer Position Associates degree Business Management or a similar field prefer, but not required Previous experience working in collections, banking, or money management Minimum 2 years collections experience Excellent negotiating skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge of State and Federal debt collection Laws Knowledge of office plus the ability to learn an navigate new software Patience and resilience
