Job Description
OC Premier Dentistry is seeking an experienced Dental Insurance Billing Coordinator who is confident managing the full dental insurance process. The ideal candidate must have strong, hands-on dental billing experience. Experience using Open Dental is highly preferred. This position's primary responsibility is insurance billing and claims management. Additional responsibilities include answering patient calls, presenting treatment plans, and assisting with front-office duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify patient eligibility, benefits, deductibles, frequencies, and coverage limitations Accurately enter and update insurance information in Open Dental Prepare and submit clean dental insurance claims Submit pre-authorizations and predeterminations Attach required X-rays, periodontal charting, intraoral photographs, and clinical notes Track outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies Correct and resubmit rejected or denied claims Post insurance payments, adjustments, and write-offs accurately Review EOBs and identify underpayments or processing errors Work aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims Calculate and explain estimated patient portions Present treatment plans clearly and confidently Discuss insurance estimates and payment options with patients Answer incoming calls and assist with scheduling when needed Maintain accurate patient account notes and insurance records Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements Communicate effectively with the dentist, clinical team, patients, and insurance representativesRequired Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on dental insurance billing experience Strong knowledge of dental claims, CDT codes, EOBs, deductibles, annual maximums, frequencies, downgrades, waiting periods, and coordination of benefits Experience submitting pre-authorizations and supporting documentation Ability to review accounts and identify billing or insurance errors Comfortable presenting treatment plans and discussing financial responsibilities Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through Professional phone and patient communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities independentlyPreferred Qualifications:
Experience using Open Dental software Experience with PPO insurance plans and insurance portals Knowledge of claim aging, appeals, narratives, and denial management Experience posting insurance payments and reconciling patient accounts Previous dental treatment coordinator or front-office experienceImportant:
This is not an entry-level billing position. Applicants should have direct dental insurance billing experience and be able to independently manage claims, pre-authorizations, insurance follow-up, and payment posting.To Apply:
