Full Job Description Legal Billing Specialist Location:
Fort Lauderdale, FL Job type: Full-time, onsite
Salary:
$60,000-$70,000 per year Mayersohn Law Group, P.A. is seeking a full-time Legal Billing Specialist to support our Fort Lauderdale office. This onsite role is responsible for the firm's legal billing, invoicing, client accounts receivable, payment processing, and billing-reporting activities. The successful candidate will have prior law-firm billing experience, hands-on Clio experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment. Responsibilities Manage the legal billing cycle in Clio, including time-entry review, pre-bill preparation, invoice revisions, final billing, and invoice delivery Review attorney and staff time entries for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and compliance with firm billing procedures Coordinate with attorneys and staff to obtain billing corrections and resolve time-entry or invoice questions Prepare, review, and distribute client invoices on the firm's billing schedule Process and apply client payments received by approved payment methods Monitor accounts receivable, aging reports, outstanding invoices, and client retainer balances Communicate professionally with clients regarding billing questions, invoice discrepancies, and outstanding account balances Maintain accurate and confidential client billing, payment, and account records Assist with billing reports, accounts-receivable reporting, reconciliation, and month-end financial review Identify billing issues before invoices are finalized and recommend practical solutions Follow firm procedures for client funds, retainer balances, and related billing documentation Support a professional, responsive client experience while protecting confidential financial information Qualifications Prior law-firm billing experience required Experience with legal billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, payment posting, and client-account follow-up required Hands-on experience using Clio for billing, invoicing, payments, or matter management required Experience managing a billing cycle from time-entry review through invoicing, payment application, and reporting Understanding of accounts receivable, billing reconciliation, and basic accounting principles Experience reviewing aging reports and following up on outstanding invoices Strong Excel, Outlook, and Word skills Excellent attention to detail, written communication, organization, and follow-through Ability to manage recurring deadlines and work independently Professional, tactful, and confidential approach to attorney, staff, and client communications Preferred qualifications Experience in a litigation-focused law firm Experience with high-volume billing or complex client-payment arrangements Experience preparing billing or accounts-receivable reports Familiarity with additional legal billing, accounting, timekeeping, or practice-management software Experience supporting billing across multiple legal practice areas Compensation and benefits Salary of $60,000-$70,000 per year, based on relevant experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) participation Ten days of paid time off Paid holidays Professional, team-oriented work environment About Mayersohn Law Group Mayersohn Law Group, P.A. is a South Florida law firm serving clients in criminal law, family law, real estate, and commercial litigation.
