Job Description Hanley, Flight & Zimmerman, a boutique IP law firm in downtown Chicago, is looking for a Billing and Accounting Assistant. This candidate will be someone with excellent organizational skills, possess a positive and professional demeanor, be able to take direction well, learn new software/online interfaces, and be open to new challenges. This individual should be IT/computer savvy and feel confident in their ability to learn and understand different accounting software and client protocols. Previous experience in e-billing is preferred as most of the firm's billing is done electronically. Responsibilities Manage firm billing of clients Navigate client billing portals to ensure accurate and successful delivery of client e-billing Manage the pre-bill process, incorporating attorney mark-ups into final billing Provide reports to firm attorneys and at the direction of the Accounting Director Light A/P duties Assist in preparation of client accruals and maintain client budgets Maintain the database of clients and matters Hanley, Flight & Zimmerman, LLC is committed to diversity as a core value of the firm. Requirements Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher Previous A/R and/or e-billing experience is preferred but not required. A/P experience is a plus. Previous work history in a law firm setting is beneficial. but not required. Although experience in working with the following software is not essential, confidence to learn, understand and navigate new software protocols is necessary: Juris, Serengeti, Corridor, Onit, Ascent - to name a few. The Billing and Accounting Assistant position requires fluent knowledge and facility of Microsoft Office, especially Excel. This role requires effective correspondence with our client base -both by email and speaking with them on the phone. Regular interaction with the firm's attorneys and managing partners is to be expected and these relationships will need to be established and fostered for success in this role.
Benefits Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $45,000-$50,000 per year. Actual salary will vary and may be above or below this range based on experience. Year-end discretionary bonus potential. Comprehensive Benefits Program includes Health, Life and Disability Insurance and available Dental and Vision insurance. 401K plan. This is an in-office, Chicago-based role.Benefits
