Position Summary The Billing Specialist is responsible for supporting accurate and timely billing and accounts receivable processes, including third-party payor billing, payment posting and reconciliation, and follow-up on outstanding claims and account discrepancies. This position also coordinates facility credentialing and recredentialing activities to help ensure required credentials remain current. The Billing Specialist works closely with Finance, program staff, and external payors to maintain accurate records, resolve billing issues, and support the organization's revenue cycle and financial operations. To be a successful Billing Specialist, you must be able to do the following always: 1. Maintain up-to-date systems and procedure manuals for assigned job duties. 2. Timely and accurately process client billing for commercial insurance, Medicaid, and other applicable payors, including submission of claims and processing of payments. 3. Monitor accounts receivable and claim status; identify and resolve billing discrepancies, denied or rejected claims, payment issues, and other outstanding items to support timely collection of amounts due. 4. Perform monthly accounts receivable reconciliations and assist with researching and resolving discrepancies between billing systems, payments, and accounting records. 5. Maintain and coordinate facility credentialing requirements, including tracking renewal and expiration dates, preparing and submitting credentialing and recredentialing applications, maintaining required documentation, and following up on outstanding items to ensure credentials remain current. 6. Maintain accurate billing, credentialing, and related records and provide information or documentation as needed for audits, reviews, reporting, and other organizational requirements. 7. Perform other duties deemed necessary by department manager(s). 8. Follow Company Policy and Procedure and operate according to the Company's Program Practice Guidelines. How you will spend your time in this job: 55% Billing 25% Accounts Receivable Management & Follow-up 10% Facility Credentialing 10% Reconciliation & Reporting To qualify for this job, you need to have: 1. High School diploma or GED required. Associate degree in accounting, business, healthcare administration, or related field preferred. 2. Experience with healthcare, third-party payor, or similar billing processes required. Commercial insurance and Medicaid billing experience preferred. 3. Billing software experience required; Netsmart Evolv experience preferred. 4. Experience with provider or facility credentialing and recredentialing preferred. 5. Strong attention to detail and ability to research and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies. 6. Competency in using a personal computer is required, including the ability to accurately maintain electronic records and work with billing and financial information. 7. Ability to travel and drive a company or personal vehicle, including at night. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to walk upstairs. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employees are subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally, inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
