Certified Billing Specialist Part-Time Reports To:

Clerical Manager Position :

Part Time (20 hours per week)

Salary Range :

$30-48/hr

General Description :

The Billing Specialist manages the financial aspect of patient care by processing insurance claims, generating invoices, and resolving billing issues. They ensure accurate billing practices and stay updated on relevant regulations.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies, payers and other relevant parties
• Verify insurance coverage, coding procedures and diagnoses
• Ensure timely filing of all claims
• Process patient payments, post to accounts and manage outstanding balances
• Investigate and resolve denied or rejected claims and appeal claims when necessary
• Answer patient inquiries regarding billing, explaining charges and set up payment plans if ne
• Maintain accurate and up to date patient billing records, including insurance information, payment history and claim status
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and other relevant healthcare laws and guidelines
• Generate reports on billing metrics, trends and performance
• Performs other duties as assigned (i.

e. assist with special projects as needed, train coworkers, covering in others absences etc.)

Skills and Qualifications :

• High School diploma or GED
• Certified Billing and Coding Specialist from approved training program
• Previous experience in medical billing and coding is preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with insurance guidelines and regulations
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• 1 year Medical office experience is required
• 1 year Epic required
