We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Billing & Payroll Specialist to join our team. This is an approximately 20-hour-per-week position with a flexible schedule . The ideal candidate has accounting experience and, preferably, understands the unique billing and payroll needs of the trucking and transportation industry. Responsibilities Billing Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and on time. Review completed loads and supporting paperwork to ensure all charges are billed correctly. Verify rates, detention, storage, chassis, and other transportation accessorial charges. Reconcile load information and paperwork with customer invoices. Research and resolve billing discrepancies. Review accounts receivable and assist with customer follow-up when needed. Vendor Invoices Review vendor and carrier invoices for accuracy. Match invoices to loads and supporting documentation. Review vendor statements and reconcile discrepancies. Process credits, adjustments, and invoice corrections. Communicate with vendors and our operations team to resolve invoice issues. Payroll Process payroll accurately and on schedule. Review driver paperwork and reconcile information needed for driver pay. Verify driver pay based on completed loads, trips, rates, and applicable pay items. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies. Process payroll changes, including new hires, pay changes, and terminations. Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records. Assist with payroll reporting and payroll-related requirements. Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in billing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or accounting . Trucking, drayage, intermodal, or transportation industry experience is strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working independently and managing priorities. Good communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Able to work with detailed load, invoice, and payroll information. Accounting or business education is a plus, but equivalent experience will be considered. Preferred Transportation Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus: Intermodal or drayage operations Trucking billing or settlements Driver payroll Transportation Management Systems (TMS) Detention and accessorial billing Chassis and storage charges Carrier/vendor invoices Load-based billing QuickBooks or similar accounting software Payroll software Schedule Approximately 20 hours per week Flexible schedule Schedule can be arranged with the right candidate based on business needs. About the Ideal Candidate The right person is dependable, accurate, organized, and comfortable working with the details that keep a trucking operation running smoothly . You don't necessarily need years of accounting experience — but you do need to be someone who can look at a load, paperwork, invoice, or payroll entry and recognize when something doesn't add up.
