In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing the billing process, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance providers. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency of our revenue cycle management and the quality of our medical records. Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes in accordance with current medical coding guidelines. Ensure accurate electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes using advanced billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Prepare and submit health insurance claims for third-party payers, verifying all necessary documentation is complete and compliant with insurance requirements. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies to maximize revenue recovery. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures when necessary to ensure precise coding. Maintain comprehensive documentation of all billing activities, coding adjustments, and correspondence related to insurance claims. Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding standards (including
ICD-10/ICD-9
), and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, with familiarity using billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services. Proficiency in
ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT
coding, DRG assignment, and health insurance claim processing. Understanding of revenue cycle management processes including electronic health record (EHR) management for billing purposes. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex medical documentation accurately. Ability to navigate health insurance policies, third-party billing procedures, and medical collection practices effectively. Prior experience working with health insurance companies or third-party payers is highly desirable.
