Job Description
Position Overview The Customer Billing Coordinator is the position in the Customer Care Department that provides utility billing and account functions for our client's water customers. This position assists in collections, data input, and processing a variety of information in maintaining all aspects of customer water accounts. Essential Job Functions Responsible for billing water utility accounts monthly. Maintains all customer accounts. Corrects and updates account information in the Customer Information System. Deals with situations that require extensive research and adjustments due to posting and billing errors or problems such as high-water usage or leaks. Processes miscellaneous work orders and resolves any problems, corrects errors and makes required adjustments. Establishes new accounts and verifies account information. Proofs meter readings for accurate billing and initiates work orders from the field as required. Answers customer phone calls. Maintains knowledge of the District's Rate Order to assure the correct billing of all district water accounts. Adheres to departmental, personnel and safety rules. Informs supervisor of all work activities. Assists other coworkers on an as-needed basis. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or (GED) is required. Two or more years of general office skills to include extensive accounts payable/bookkeeping work, customer service, and data entry experience is required. Prior billing experience or knowledge of the water industry is preferred. Other Skills/Abilities Must have a good working knowledge of computer operations (data entry), accounting, bookkeeping and general office practices and procedures. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must have personal computer operation skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel, and data entry and typing skills with speed and accuracy. Excellent mathematical skills are required. Must have the ability to follow oral and written directives. Work effectively and efficiently with distraught and irate customers and maintain a pleasant personality at all times; handle multiple projects; prioritize and organize work assignments to meet deadlines; and work well under pressure.
