Job Description
Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Charge Entry Specialist to support accurate and timely entry of patient charges, payments, and billing information into the practice management system. This role is critical to maintaining revenue cycle accuracy, ensuring compliance, and supporting clean claim submission.
Hours:
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Key Responsibilities:
+ Enter medical charges, procedure codes, diagnosis codes, and related billing information into the billing system with a high degree of accuracy.
+ Review charge documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper supporting documentation.
+ Verify patient demographics, insurance information, provider details, and dates of service before charge entry.
+ Identify and resolve charge discrepancies, missing information, and data entry errors in collaboration with clinical and billing teams.
+ Maintain productivity and accuracy standards for daily charge entry volumes.
+ Assist with corrections, rebills, and adjustments as needed.
+ Support claim preparation and help ensure timely submission of accurate claims.
+ Follow payer guidelines, billing procedures, and healthcare compliance requirements including HIPAA.
+ Document issues and communicate trends impacting billing accuracy or reimbursement.
+ Work closely with coders, billers, and front-office staff to support efficient revenue cycle operations. Requirements
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred. + 1+ years of experience in medical billing, charge entry, or revenue cycle operations preferred.
+ Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding concepts preferred.
+ Familiarity with electronic health records and practice management or billing systems.
+ Strong data entry, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
+ Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Understanding of medical terminology, insurance verification, and claims workflows is a plus.
